Same Old Stretch Of Road - an original

musician/member name: Film & Animation
Duration: 00:03:31
description:
This video is about traveling the "Same Old Stretch Of Road" (and still 100 more miles to go. *Sigh*). Played on a baritone Mountain Dulcimer along with a BeatBuddy. The pictures were taken on the return trip, North to South - from snow to not-so-much. It was early in the morning on New Year's Day, hence the extremely light traffic. I'm okay with both of those things! ;-)

Wow, Salt-Springs...you truly are amazing!  The world is a much better place with you in it.  Thank you for all that you do.  You are an inspiration!

(P.S.  I would've loved to have heard your improv!)

Very good Christine.  The beginning I was envisioning the Lives of the Cowboys from Prairie Home Companion.

For sure..........I do the route at least 2x a week, sometimes three or four depending on what I can can glean from other distributors excess and/or generosity.   It usually takes about 4 hours to pack the stuff, load it and take it to three or four churches and a handful of families that have no transportation..........this week I managed to snag 500 loaves of bread, a 75+ pies and cakes, five boxes of cabbage, two cases of nutritional drink for a woman undergoing radiation and chemo therapy, cases of Christmas goodies leftover from the holiday and lots of canned goods plus two cases of watermelon.  Another minister helps take some of what we can get to a major distribution pantry and pick up stuff they need to move and then we divide it up a get that out.  Between the two of us we are delivering to 40 or so families and 5 church pantries every week.

The drive is not bad once you know the short cuts and the back roads.......most of them are paved...what is aggravating is some of the crazy drivers out there..........two weeks ago a 40 ft. ladder blew out of a truck and slid across the road in front of me............hit that at 65 mph and your toast...........yesterday a semi truck winding down a back road came around the corner in my lane..........what I love is watching some of the kids in these poor families light up when they see me pull in with all sorts of goodies.  One Grandma out here is looking after 12 grandchildren that range in age from 15 to two.; we have a few widows and several handicapped folk we try to check on as well. I keep a soup kitchen in bread...the two old women that run it feed about 80 people a day, 4 days a week....they are true heroes.

I am glad your tune came along today.........and if Mel Torme was here, he would have been impressed with my improvisation of that tune.  It is all good and I am really grateful to the folk that help by providing the stuff we get out... they are the ones that do the really hard work......I just drive and carry stuff from here to there..God is good and abundance is everywhere if you just trust and ask for a way to bless others...it always comes........

I totally agree about the last few miles, Lexie.  On and on and....  winky   Thank you, both of you!  You've been on my mind for awhile now (Smiley's video).  The tie up isn't the song, that part was ready a month or two ago. (Actually, he now has two songs.  If I wait much longer, he'll wind up with an entire album - Haha!)  It's the video part that's jamming me up.  Several ideas just have not panned out.  *Sigh*  But I will keep trying until I find the right thing that just might make Smiley smile.  I am very determined about this!

Aloha back, Irene!  hi   I am really glad you liked my song and especially happy that you like my dog!  Her and I are pretty much attached at the hip.  Well, except when I play music too loud - then it's every girl for herself.  giggle2   I appreciate you watching and your very nice comment!  Thank you!

You are very kind Salt-Springs.  In many ways!  100 mile delivery route, huh?  How often do you do this and how long does it take from start to finish?  Through the forest...I hope that is as wonderful to you as it sounds to me.  I am very happy that you are taking me with you next time.  Thank you so much!!!

Thank you Steven!  While my dog isn't one of those who enjoys car rides, she loves the stops.  The doggy runs at rest areas are kind of her reward for tolerating the longish trips ( 2-1/2 hours one way).  Hmm...come to think of it, mine too.  Lol!

Great music to go with the mood, Christine! I think we've all taken those kind of drives. Looks like you had some nice company along for the ride!
