Charles Thomas: Donald, I too enjoyed your playing! I have the same "problem", my recordings posted here are one take improvisations. I just play what comes to me, I don't think I could repeat them exactly.
So an observation: When new students start learning to play the dulcimer, or any instrument for that matter, the big problem, after the mechanics of strumming and noting, is learning the melody. I have had numerous people come up to me after a show and ask, "How do you do that?" Followed quickly by, "I want to learn to do that." My next question is how many tunes do you know?" Usual answer, "None!" Can't learn a song without the tune. Well there you go. We get to experience what it means to learn a tune from scratch. and it's hard work. I like dulcimer jazz but laying it down in a studio with other instruments is proving to be difficult.

Thank you for the kind words. The only problem I see now is I played this as it came out of my head. To learn this tune would be like learning any other tune I want to play. Lot's of unpacking and a lot of work! Funny how the brain works!
