The Cowboy Song

musician/member name: Entertainment
Duration: 00:03:56
description:
"The Cowboy Song" also known as "The Railroad Corral" is a traditional song about the trials and tribulations of moving the herd from Texas to the rail head in Kansas for shipment to the eastern markets. It's a song about the "Golden Age" of the cowboy in the early American west.

Fun song Gordon.  You did well.

Ever met a real cowboy?  I did, in Texas.  I ate a huge pork chop and my wife a huge steak, on his ranch.

Nice guy, and played the part so well.  Family of cowboys and cowgirls.

Thanks Terry, yeah I like to think that my old Dad was a real cowboy. By making us kids do cowboy work as soon as we were able, he taught us the value of a good education and that there is an easier way to make a living. I must admit that it was a good honest life and we learned to respect the land and what it produced. Good childhood memories!

Great song Gordon.

It brought a memory of a Montana Rancher I cared for, unfortunately he had Alzheimers, each evening to get him comfortable enough to go to bed we talked about his Ranch work, I being his Ranch Hand. It was really nice to be able to get to know who he was.

He was truly a "Cowboy".

Thanks Lexie, I believe that everyone who passes through our lives has some kind of gift to leave with us.

Nice Gordon! It was fun to come on and see this very popular song for ukulele. Have you folks had a killing frost yet in Alberta? We had one last week and bye bye Morning Glories.

Thanks Cynthia, it is a fun song to play and sing, it's the same tune as "Farewell To Tarwathie". Yes indeed we've had our killing frost here, in fact we're expecting to get our first snowfall tonight. Merry Christmas!!
