String gauge for finger picking

What  string gauges do you normally start with for an instrument that is finger picked?   It will be a 26 or 27" vsl and probably be made of black walnut with either butternut or sassafras top.  I normally scrap my wood down to .10 " but this one will be about .085 or .90" in thickness. This is a first  for me and could use some suggestions.
