Cleaning and Preserving

What do you use to clean and preserve the wood of your dulcimer? I've tinkered with enough wood to know that some products are not good for a 'green' or new finish. If your dulcimer is new, I would suggest gentle cleaning more often than using a product that might contain solvents or abrasives.
