Black Mountain Dulcimer - Cracked headstock

A moment of EBay fever has meant that I bought a Black Mountain Dulcimer with a cracked headstock. I was aware of it and the price reflected this problem. 

My thinking is that I can fill the crack with glue & clamp the head tight until the glue sets making an effective repair? Any suggestions as to what glue to use or alternative repair suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
