Donald Graves show trimming & using a feather as a pectrum
Folks I see people using a feather as aplectrumwith the butt end down and some say thatthis adds scratches to the fret board and may be hard on strings.

Donald shows how to trim the feather, than he holds it with thenaturalrounding of thefeather horizontally (not vertically) over the strings, then with a whipping motion strums.
