I have a cheap metal collapsible music stand that I bought for a dollar at a tag sale. When sitting however the music level on the stand is too high. My remedy for this is to collapse the stand so its legs are flat on the floor. To keep it from collapsing further I attached a wire between two of the three legs. Now the music sits only nineteen inches off the floor and is closer to my eye-level while sitting. I also set the stand kitty-corner to where I am playing so otherscan see me and the dulcimer and the stand is not in the way.
