Hi Wendy, The reunion is from 1-5 today out in Carleton. I could do later sometime after that or Sunday evening would work as well. My cell phone number is 207-447-8257. It's great to be back in Duluth. Ben
Hi Wendy, I will be coming to Duluth this week. I am hoping to be there on Friday. I have a family reunion on Saturday (Aug. 29). Not sure how long I am out there, but maybe we can meet up again to play some dulcimer. Ben
Hi Wendy, There are many people on here who are from all corners of the States and various locations around the world.
I think it's great what you have done for the dulcimer, music and the arts for the Duluth area.
A song about Lake Superior written for the dulcimer would be good.
I remember as a kid growing up, we spent one summer in Duluth as my dad was thinking about transferring to a paper mill in Two Harbors at the time. It didn't happen of course. But I do recall a song that I heard often played on the radio (and my uncles had a 45 of the song) that went like this, "Duluth...Duluth...that's my hometown".
The only other song that I know of is the one that Gordon Lightfoot wrote on the tragedy of the "Edmund Fitzgerald".
Hi Wendy, I was going to welcome you to the site, but I see that you've been here for a bit longer than I have. I enjoyed our meeting and playing a tune or two together in July 2010 while I was visiting relatives. I hope to get back out sometime again, but not sure when.
Ben
