I wrote a long email and I deleted it by accident. Bummer. First, thanks for all of the welcome messages.I still don't have a dulcimer and have been overwhelmed with the choices by all the amazing American makers. I do have three banjos and play daily. I have never performed, nor have I been to a festival. I am trying earnestly to figure out what I want, what the different paying styles are, different string configurations, length, wood choices, budget, and so forth. I would love some advice on a book that discusses the tradition. Also from listening to sound clips I wonder if it would be absurd to start out with a baritone. I find the sound comforting and appealing at the same time. I only sing to the adoring dogs. LolSo, that's where I'm at. I'm reading Stumelia's blog on traditional playing. I am looking for information on Galax dulcimers. I'm fascinated with them. I think I'll purchase the Jean Ritchie book and keep reading and listening online. I'm open to suggestions. Thanks, Yvette
