I have been a college English teacher for the last 20+ years but am now out on disability. I played guitar for my personal pleasure and to sing and play for small church groups for many years as well. I loved playing guitar but developed Rheumatoid Arthritis and had to stop. After some years without the ability to make music (and giving up), I am trying to follow my youngest daughter's example and play the mountain dulcimer. Even without knowing much, the sounds are just beautiful, and I have hope I can have the pleasure of making music back in my life again....and I am a rank beginner now! Thank you for the opportunity to join this group and learn and possibly share.

Welcome Msmouce to Friends of the Mountain Dulcimer. I am so hoping you will be able to play the dulcimer with your hand problem. This is a great place to make dulcimer friends and learn. There is a lot of knowledge and experience represented here. Best wishes on your dulcimer journey.

Hi Ms Mounce, and welcome to the wonderful world of the Friends of the Mountain Dulcimer.  It's a good place to come, spend some time, learn about the dulcimer, and to meet some good people.
