With my little composition "MaxWell" I recorded this short demonstration of my new FolkRoots D-Series Max DAD.

It is a standard/bass hybrid with 5 strings "normally" tuned:
D2, A2, D3, A3, d4
(the tuning for this demonstration is one note lower: CGCGc)

Body: Walnut
Top: Sitka Spruce
VSL: 25"

The two additional bass strings offer the possibility to play DAD in two octaves - one has so to say two dulcimers in one.

I very much enjoy this warm, rich and deep sound.

@Granto - I like the spacing very much - it is very comfortable to play (also considering the VSL of 25").

I have heard in a youtube demo of Bing Futch that Folkcraft offers also a MAX DAD with a wider fretboard for those who would like to have more distance between the strings.

I really like the "two dulcimers in one" created by the addition of the two bass strings. Some lovely sounding music coming from that dulcimer. Thanks for this.
