good to hear from you Brenda..!
Hello Brenda: i just read your post and was touched by your health struggles. I fully understand how something as simple as a mountain dulcimer can be a wonderful source of strength and peace during stressful times. Music and especially the dulcimer is healing. prayers bill
Hi, Brenda! Your cats are absolutely adorable, and I think the names Basket and Boo Boo fit them well! I've always been a cat person. I always had one growing up. The one that I was the closest to was Tabby whom I had from the time I was ten years old until I was 23 and she passed away. I miss her a lot. I would love to have a cat now, but my landlords said we can have any pet we want. . . .except for a cat.
Fortunately my dulcimer teacher has four cats and I get a lot of loving from them when I go over for my lessons!
I have to admit, though, It's hard to play a dulcimer when there's a cat on my lap!!
Brenda,
Thank you for the info about the gathering in May-- don't know whether I'll make it this year or not but it sounds like a really fun time!
Brenda, hope all is well with you. Stay encouraged and keep playing ! I have had my Dulcimer since the early ninetys and pretty much self taught. This last yr I got into it more when I joined this site and met local groups to now to play with. It has helped me so much ! I Love the Dulcimer. I never had anyone to play with untill this yr. Learning Chords, Rythem, finger picking and speed ! I have many interests and soon to join WriteWerx. Looking forward to chating.
'Lo Brenda ...I'm pushing on with this first build purely for the experience now. I am learning a good bit (thanks largely to help from the folks here). I did reposition the frets to Diatonic. It does have a scale now. I'm not sure the frets are correct. I am using an online 'tuner'. It plays in Windows media player and goes 'boing, boing boing' in D and A. I've tried to tune by ear doing that ... I think my ears are sour ! It's fun though and a second build is in the planning stage ... just need to gather up more 'stuff'.tootles
