One Wife is Enough for Me

Artist: Dusty T
Genre: Folk & Singer-Songwriter
Duration: 00:02:19

Description:
A traditional Irish tune I found in O'Neill's Music of Ireland and have never heard before. The Irish title is "Is Mo Shaith Aon Cheile Amhain." I am playing a 3-stringed mountain dulcimer made by Terry McCafferty of cherry and redwood and tuned Eb Bb Eb.

Wonderfully played, Dusty!

All the fires are horrible - stay safe!

Thanks for listening, @strumelia and @Irene.

Irene, the fires have led to horrible air quality across the whole west coast.  I'm a couple of hours south of your daughter, but probably breathing the same nasty air.  Yes, my car is covered in ash and the air has been unhealthy for a few days now.  Luckily we have a good air conditioner, so as long as we stay inside we're OK.  I wore an N-95 particulate mask to take the dog for his only walk of the day. Poor little guy. dog1

Thanks for recording this Dusty.   I see that you are up in Northern Cal.....how are you doing in that fire place?   I have a daughter in Chico and I get photos of the skys and the ash on her car when she gets out of work.  So sad all that has been lost.   aloha, irene

Dusty, this is so beautiful!  heart

Love the pretty little two-note end of the first phrase of the B part... it adds a sweet light feel in there.

Thanks so much, @lois-sprengnether-keel and @dulcinina.  I guess if no one knows of other renditions of this tune, mine is the definitive version!  happys

With a title like that I wonder if there are lyrics?  Nicely played.  BTW you might want to look at the site now as there's an addition to it from naked Regina you might want to report.

I've not heard this tune before, Dusty.  It's a beauty, though.

Thanks, @robin-thompson and @macaodha.  Have either of you ever heard this tune before?  As I mention, I found the music notation in O'Neill's 19th-century collection, but have not found any renditions of it anywhere.  It's not even available at The Session.  So I have no idea if the chords I've chosen are faithful to the original.

A beautiful tune beautifully played, Dusty!  I hear shades of Star of the County Down here.  So good!
