I am looking for a teardrop with f-style sound holes and a wider fretboard; open to possible trades. If you are interested in this instrument, feel free to ask questions or request more photos of specific parts.
Vintage McSpadden T9w for sale
McSpadden T9w walnut teardrop for sale. Dulcimer Shoppe label with George Looney signature undated, but 6000 range s/n seems to point to 1978 or 79. Laminated sides and back with solid top. Grover Sta-Tite pegs.
The T9 differs from the current T34 by having a shallower soundbox and slightly narrower fretboard. Bass and treble drones are placed closer together to facilitate easier access to the melody strings. This model is perfect for drone style play with fingers or notes. Bright, traditional tone.
This specimen appears to have been played very little, if at all. Leather thong on the pegbox and minute (don't show up in photos) scuffing on back indicate that it may have spent most of its life hanging on a wall. No pick wear, and the only fret wear is a little polishing on the crowns done by me playing it a few times; no fret grooves. Instrument has not been damaged or modified (strap buttons, etc.) in any way. Overall condition is excellent, almost a "new old stock" piece.
Includes original 70s blue-lined black chipboard case. Carry handle broken and mostly missing, but otherwise in good condition with minor wear.
$225 plus insured shipping.
