G'Day Helen, long time no chat. I have discovered standing your lovely dulcimer in the corner is anti social- it won't talk to me Hoping all goes well for you. Incidentally I had a message from Paypal the other day telling me you had sent me $AUD5. For the life of me I can not think why you should do that? Curiously too, the email came through twice! Tried corresponding with you by direct email off "fomd" but it bounced.
I have been through a bit of a bad patch since you sent me a dulcimer - nothing to do with my acquisition. I am now feeling like getting it all going again. I have decided that the dulcimer is about the best instrument for me to play given the restraints imposed on sound s escaping from units within some retirement villages. Even well played melodeons/concertinas are seen as "being over the top" for some of those growing old together.
The workshop sounds amazing Barbara-Lee. I am slowly getting back to dulcimer playing . Playing guitar and singing was a good break. I am learning Old Black Cat Couldnt Catch a Rat from Don Pedi's book and Whiskey Before Breakfast. The first is in DGd. Am having a go at singing with dulcimer using just 3 chords...challenging for my ear. What are you working on at the moment?

Thanks so much guys. I only intended to play for two hours but ended up doing three at that market and got asked by organiser of another market to come down to their mini market a block or so away in the main street and play there as well. So I did another hour there. (Just loaded up the cart and trundled down the hill) Took a few coffee and cake breaks - thats where most of my profits went. Funniest question was from a nice very old man who yelled at me, 'can u turn it up?'. Only problem now is I need to learn some new songs for next time - after four hours of the same ten tunes I am a bit over them.
Congratulations! Next time make up a 1/2 page of A4 paper handout that answers "what is that" There's fair bit of background information here at FOTMD and elsewhere; or ask us and we'll give you a hand. You never know, you could start a dulcimer fan group there and have a "jug band"!!
Way to go Helen. Looks like you were having a good time. How long did you play for? At least the question wasn't "When are you through"...LOL. Doing this one will make it easier to do another. Well done.
Hello Helen ! I told you they'd be asking ,lol. So glad it went well for you, the weather looks great,as Ross says, the setup fine, and I do believe I can see a couple of John Keane's old shirts on that rack behind you ! (don't ask, cos you'll wish you had'nt! When is your next gig ?

Awesome, Helen! You even color coordinated your dulcimer, blouse, and sneakers!
Good for you.
Looks like fun, I like the wagon. Seems like most of our outings are to educate the public about the dulcimer
