Leaving Lismore

musician/member name: People & Blogs
Duration: 00:01:48
description:
Leaving Lismore (an island on the west coast of Scotland) on mountain dulcimer, arrangement by Judith Giddings. In this video we play together, thanks to her audio file (at fotmd.com) and permission. The tuning is 1-5-8 (CGc). Judith continues to be a shining light for many dulcimer players; her quality caring and sharing has made a significant difference. The desktop covering chosen for this video contains many phrases that celebrate Judith:

Put your heart into everything you do
The only thing you can control is when you start; just keep moving forward
Spread joy
Be kind to all creatures
Bloom where you are planted
Make beautiful things
Know your worth
You are right where you need to be
Look on the bright side
You will never know until you try
Live the width of your life as well as the length
Progress is better than perfection
Sing in the shower
Love with your whole heart
Embrace every adventure
Be the person your dog thinks you are
Gratitude is a gift you give yourself

T-shirt is by Jan Hammond, and its words are “Play with all the colors of a rainbow.”

The primary challenge in my playing is timing (rhythm).  This latest video is no exception and yet am so glad to share as “Leaving Lismore” has long been a favorite song.  I first heard Judith Giddings' audio file at fotmd.com, and it was also here that our friendship began.  For an alone lesson in timing as well as moving my hands faster, I chose to imitate Judith’s playing of the song by including the audio file with her permission.  While my playing with her is not perfect, it was fun!  Hope you enjoy.
