Greetings from Vermont Lynne and welcome to the site. If you prefer the finger dancing style, go for it. I've taught several people that and noter in the first lesson and then I say, "Which feels better to you?" There are no rules, except to play in a way that makes you joyful. Our best FD style player, may he rest in peace was john p, and I believe all his sound clips are still here. You go girl.

Hi Lynne, and welcome to the wonderful world of the Friends of the Mountain Dulcimer.  It's a good place to come, spend some time, learn about the dulcimer, and to meet some good people.

Ben
