My Cracker sensibilities love the Appalachian Dulcimer, and the artist in me loves to make them. I play the dulcimer, but it would offend musicians world wide to say I am one of them. I love the sound of the drones and the warm tone of its voice. Sloppily sentimental it is, but the dulcimer is grounded in modern times. I'm lucky to have come upon this wonderful instrument that has changed my life.

My wife, Val, and I make all sorts of arts and crafts to support our music habits, and we love to call that our lives!

Mark, your dulcimer looks and sounds really nice.  I like that you use recycled wood.  I guess that i differ a little from you in that I only use woods grown locally in the tradition of the early builders.  Doesn't make mine any better or worse than yours however.  Keep up the good work.

Welcome, Mark, to this little corner of dulcimer heaven. Sounds like my desires when I started playing this thing 25 years ago. Since there was no internet then, I was lost a little except for a few books and records. Now, we have information at our fingertips which would have had to be "dug out" back then. Hope you enjoy it here.

Hi Mark, and welcome to the wonderful world of the Friends of the Mountain Dulcimer. It's a good place to come, spend some time, learn about the dulcimer, and to meet some good people.
