Beginning dulcimer player, student of Steve Eulberg in San Mateo, CA and D.J. Hamouris in Berkeley, CA. Carpal tunnel keeps me from being as full-out into playing as I want to be, but I practice as I can, with the goal of pleasing and accompanying myself, and acquitting myself well in jams. I am partial to the Aeolian tuning from the little work I've done. Minor key music suits my voice.  :-)

Welcome Maryam and greetings from Vermont. Many of us turned to the beauty of the dulcimer, when other instruments became impossible. There is even a group on here I think of folks discussing solutions to problems playing the dulcimer. Lots of good folks here, this is my 2nd home lol. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

THanks for the welcomes everyone! I am looking for a teacher on the San Francisco Peninsula - Palo Alto, Mountain View, Redwood City, Menlo Park, Los ALtos up to San Mateo area. Do any of you know anyone in this area, or is there a place where I would find a listing of such teachers? Thanks very much!

Hi Maryam, and welcome to the wonderful world of the Friends of the Mountain Dulcimer.  It's a good place to come, spend some time, learn about the dulcimer, and to meet some good people.
