Hello Matteo, I notice that you may be interested in making a case for your new baby !!! If you search thro' the videos I have posted on this site you will find one showing how I make cases, may be of interest to you? I should be able post a link for you, but to my shame I still cannot manage it 9.gif

best wishes

Matteo, I think you'd be happy with a very basic Lynch student model as your first dulcimer...and in the future you can trade it in for a discount on a new fancier model. One of my very BEST dulcimers is my David Lynch cherry teardrop. It looks and sounds beautiful and is easy to play. I usually fingerpick and this one has a low action (the strings are very close to the frets so you don't have to press down on the strings very hard). The VSL (vibrating string length) is 25.5 inches which makes it easy to play chords. Sorry, but mine isn't for sale. Good luck finding your dulcimer, though. (My first dulcimer was made out of cardboard!) Welcome to FOTMD!

Matteo

If you like "French" dance tunes - and you get your dulcimer soon - you might like to try the following dance classics, tabbed out for mountain dulcimer tuned DGD or DAD.

Enjoy!

I recommend you go to the 'Videos' tab at the top of this page for some inspiration there is a huge variety of playing styles, levels of wxperience and different types of dulcimers on there.now i am going to find out what 'occitan" dance music is. and just in case you reply in italian I should warn you that the first three words of this reply represents my entire stock of italian words!Marion

Hi Matteo, and welcome to the wonderful world of the Friends of the Mountain Dulcimer. It's a good place to come, spend some time, learn about the dulcimer, and to meet some good people. At the top of the page is a Group heading, which is a drop-down menu that includes a listing for UK/European Group that you can join.
