Hi all!  I am from north-west Indiana and live on a little hobby farm with my husband, daughter, goats, dog, and a few chickens running around!  I enjoy playing dulcimer and fiddle with the group I lead ("Pickin' Friends"), as well as living the farm life and all that entails!

Your advice and experiences were very helpful.  thank you.  You mentioned things I never thought of.  My mother is in a nursing home in NY and I live in KY.  My experience with her and her facility has prompted me to do what I can where I live.  I'm an intermediate player leaning more toward advanced beginner.  But I can manage a few songs without too much difficulty.

You're right. The elderly love young people and I am going to invite a young gal from my church who is a gifted musician to join me.

Rhonda, I find it hard to navigate FOTMD and couldn't find the "thread/forum/group" where I found your post.  I have received so many nice comments from folks in your group and hope this reply gets back to them as well.

Please respond with the name of this forum.  Then I can keep you all posted about my progress.  Nina

Hello Rhonda, I just saw your post of a couple years ago, I guess, on playing in a nursing home.  I was unable to see the replies to your question about how much music to play etc.  I am thinking of offering to play at a nursing home and think going to a few rooms rather than playing for a large group.  How did that work out and what advice do you have for me?  Nina (my site name is Dulcinina)
