Just over in the Glory Land (with vocals)

Artist:
Duration: 00:04:33

Description:
Just Over in the Glory Land By: James W. Acuff Pub. 1906 Public Domain. I’ve a home prepared where the saints abide, Just over in the glory land; And I long to be by my Savior’s side, Just over in the glory land. Refrain: Just over in the glory land, I’ll join the happy angel band, Just over in the glory land; Just over in the glory land, There with the mighty host I’ll stand, Just over in the glory land. I am on my way to those mansions fair, Just over in the glory land; There to sing God’s praise and His glory share, Just over in the glory land. What a joyful thought that my Lord I’ll see, Just over in the glory land; And with kindred saved, there forever be, Just over in the glory land. With the blood-washed throng I will shout and sing, Just over in the glory land; Glad hosannas to Christ, the Lord and King, Just over in the glory land. Played on Dewdrop Concert Model. Unison Tuned. Pythagorian Temperament.

@Strumelia I was playing Ionian G. Sorry. I Wasn't paying attention and went back and re-read your questions. That's what I love about the unison tuning.... two for one! Although, D is too low for me on a lot of the songs I like to sing so I play those in G.
I wish I'd payed more attention to the Unison tuning long ago!

@Robin-Thompson Thank you!

Oh, I haven't sung this in years and years-- good to hear it sung and played, Bobby!  Your voice and this instrument fit the hymn just right.

Thanks Bobby, that's what I thought.  Sounds great!

Galax players use this tuning ...all open strings in the same gauge tuned to high d, ...then either playing in key of G based on the melody string at third fret (ionian mode, as you are doing in this song), OR playing in key of D with melody based on open melody string (mixolydian mode).

Thanks everyone!

@Strumelia all strings are tuned somewhere around the note of d with a Pythagorean temperament tuner. So the tuning won't be the exact note you get with a chromatic tuner. Plus it's been a few days since I checked the tune so I'm sure the new strings have stretched a bit. All 4 strings are .012's.

Bobby I love how this sounds.  Great singing, too!

Can you clarify to me what you mean by "unison tuning" in this instance?  You are playing this in the key of G.  How are all the open strings tuned..? I hear at least one open drone tuned to D.  Are all your strings tuned to the same D note (when unfretted), and then you are playing in ionian mode with the tonic/key/home note of G being on the third fret of the melody string?  Also with no thick 'bass' string being in a lower octave D, just all high D strings when open, correct?
