Sad news- Rest in peace our good friend John Phillips

General mountain dulcimer or music discussions

From all of John's family thanks again for the wonderfully kind and compassionate words expressed in this thread.  We will be using a selection of them at his funeral as they are a touching illustration of the way that Dad was remembered by an entire community of dulcimer players.

We have set up a Just Giving page in Dad's memory for The Salvation Army so if any of you see fit to make a donation on memory of John we would be most grateful: https://www.justgiving.com/John-Phillips1945

General mountain dulcimer or music discussions

Hello everybody,

Thank you for all of your kind words about my Dad.  It's a real comfort to see how well liked he was amongst the dulcimer community.  It has been a difficult week for us but to hear so many comments about the things he got up to and the warmth of the feelings expressed help to take the edge of the pain. Although I don't know too much about the dulcimer, looking through my Dad's profile I can see the character, passion and technical expertse in those posts that I loved so much in him.  I'm glad you all got to know him a little bit too.

Although most of you are based in the U.S. I know there are also some people in the U.K. on this forum too.  Dad's funeral will be held on March 21st in London and if anybody would like to attend they would be most welcome.  Just contact me on mikephillips1959@gmail.com and I'll let you have more details.

Once again, thank you so much for all of your kind messages.

Mike Phillips
