Ordered a Banjammer today!
Adventures with 'other' instruments...
Thanks, Ben! Looking forward to learning more about it!
Good to hear that you have enjoyed your banjammer, Wayne! I will look around and see if there are any classes or workshops coming up that may be relatively close to me. It seems that I saw that there is some instructional videos on-line also?
Dusty, thanks! I purchased my McSpadden from Elderly Instruments from their stock, so I was unsure of typical turn-around times for ordering instruments like this. From all the reviews I have read, I am certain it will be worth the wait. It looks like that CD can purchased directly from Aaron's website. I will have to check that out to get a sampling of what can be done with this instrument!
I don't get to post often here but I went for it and ordered a chromaticBanjammer from http://www.clemmerdulcimer.com/ today. I am enjoying learning how to play my first dulcimer - a McSpadden diatonic but really like the banjo-y sound of the banjo-dulcimer hybrids. The individual who took my order today (who was very nice) said that my banjammer should be done in about 3 months. For those whom have purchased one, is this a typical wait time? Hard to wait :)!
I am converting an antique (read old) dresser to an instrument rack. Just want to add a bumper of some kind along the top. I have to keep my instruments in cases as I live on a dirt road and dust is a constant companion.
Tim and Ken,
Those are great suggestions! I have found the SMN for these and can't wait to try them. I have been listening to some Youtube verions also of all of the suggestions. I am sure others reading this thread appreciate these ideas for haunting tunes too.
Ken, I have played a few tune in Aeolian mode after reading Strumlia's blog about it and really like it. That would be perfect for these types of tunes.
Thanks John! I will try to get a copy of that!
That one sounds like fun, Shawn. I will give that a try.
I found this old thread as it is now October and Halloween is approaching.Anyone have some additional tabs, links, or ideasof spooky songs to play on the dulcimer? I can pick some of the easier, contemporary ones that come to mind - "Addams Family" that are just for but I am sure others out there can think of others? Tubular Bellsused in the Exorcistwould be interesting....
