MD as string percussion

I joined FOMD because I saw a page somewhere on this webpage on the Occitan, Iberian tradition of a dulcimer shaped instrument used as a string drum along with a three-hole pipe, held in other hand.  I'm a taborist, player of a 3-hole pipe in British tuning and not only use a tabor drum but also use my mountain dulcimer as a percussion, beating on the strings without fretting, just open chord as rhythm to pipe melody
