Possible Picture of a Prichard instrument Page 103 in The Appalachian Dulcimer Book
In Michael Murphy's Appalachian Dulcimer Book there is a picture on page 103 (1st edition) of a man standing outside holding a dulcimer. The photo is uncredited in this 1st edition. In looking at it closely, it seems to me it could be a C N Prichard. It looks to be far too large to be a Thomas anyway. What I'm wondering is if the photo is credited in any later editions of this book? I'm trying to research the spread of C N Prichard's instruments. Also the pictures on 42 and 80 (which came from the University of Louisville) seem to be a larger box than a Thomas.
Since we know Huntington was a railroad town, Prichard had the ability to ship his instruments all over the country. Could more of instruments be found if we look West? I'm sure these ideas have been considered by others and any information which has been obtained would be greatly appreciated.
