Just curious about your favorite woods

Hi all. It seems to me that I'm having more fun experimenting with wood combinations than anything else (I, being more of a wood junkie and butcher). Just waiting to hear what the next one sounds like- and looks like is a thrill for me.

Question is: What is you favorite wood (or woods) for top and back, or any other part? I'm just kinda curious to see what others have used and liked-or disliked.

I'll start with a recent one of mine. Spalted maple topand sapele B&S. Sapele neck with ebony overlay. Turned out kinda cool and I think it sounds wonderful all across the spectrum.

Interested to hear from some real dulcimer builders about this.
