Click Old Hen (AAC Dulcimer Tuning)

musician/member name: Music
Duration: 00:02:09
description:
I finally learned how to play the melody of Cluck Old Hen on my Mountain Dulcimer. It required AAC tuning with the C being the melody string. This particular dulcimer was given to me by Stephen Kenny. I've tuned it in various A tunings (AEA, AAA bagpipe tuning, and now AAC tuning). The tone and resonance are wonderful.

Key of A Modal

Instruments used:
Mountain Dulcimer tuned in AAC (melody + ornamental picking)
Bodhran, Metal Rhythm Bones, Wood Rhythm Bones
(G) Harmonica played in cross harp for A
Shruti Box in A+E
Layered Vocals

Thank you for the stunning visuals:

This is so well done!!!  I especially like the clicking of the bones.  Awesome.

Thanks so much and Happy New Year! Those bones are made of aluminum, which are great for adding a sharp pinging or scraping sound, depending on how they are held and played. In this recording, they are meant to mimic the sound of the railroad spikes being driven into the ground with the hammers.

Thank you. The minor tuning suits the dulcimer, I think.
