Thank you Ken for your kind comments. I'm really happy with it & amazed how loud it is obviously due to the big box. I used hand tools throughout as they would have done way back. However it does have understandable limitations in modern times.
That's an excellent music box, Dennis! Looks very "real" to me. (Those looped strings ends scare me, though)! How did you attach your strings to the screw-eye tuners?
Thank you John. I've cut off the looped ends now but I had left them on at the time in case of slippage during tension & stretch. I found it helpful while experimenting with methods of attachment. I settled on a double figure of 8 around the eye with the ends trapped by the string as it heads towards the "nut". It works surprisingly well and generally stays in tune.
