Who made it & when?

We bought a little Appalachian Mountain Dulcimer last night. It was advertised as an "antique instrument" and was being sold as part of the inventory from an old mans' pawn shop.There are no tags on it, and it looks fairly old alright, & has geared guitar tuners that may not be original as some are backwards. Not sure what kind of wood it is, but it's really light- short VSL, but missing bridge...Any info would be appreciated!
