The bluegrass band I play in, the Boggy Mountain Boys, managed to blag its way into the recording studio at Ty Siamas (the Centre for Welsh Folk Music) today. We recorded a few tunes, on one of which I played my MD.I've uploaded the traditional tune "Gospel Ship" to my Soundclick page:

We had a lot of fun in the studio but only a little time so we decided to record very traditionally. We are a 5 piece band and worked primarily round a single central mic' - moving in and out for balance during each number. This blew the engineers mind as after setting up the desk he had nothing left to twiddle and no overdubbing or mixing down to look forward to!!!! We also set up two overhead mic's to get a little stereo effect and a mic' fora littlebass boost as the room was too small for him to get close enough to the single mic'. We then just played our tunes in full band live takes. Here we are:

It was great fun - and we learnt loads from the session. Hopefully they will have us in again!!!!
