Marvin Hilla dulcimer

Instruments- discuss specific features, luthiers, instrument problems & questions

That's all I found, too, Dan. It would be wonderful to know how many dulcimers he made and who has them. I first heard his name when this dulcimer showed up for sale at Cotten Music in Nashville.

Marvin Hilla dulcimer

Instruments- discuss specific features, luthiers, instrument problems & questions

Has anyone heard of or even owned a dulcimer made by luthier Marvin Hilla from Fulton, TN? He has passed now, and I am trying to get more information about him and the dulcimers he made.

Thanks in advance

How does your pet react to your Dulcimer playing?

OFF TOPIC discussions

My cat runs out of the room if I so much as touch an instrument. Maybe it is a comment on my playing ability? They say cats can hear an octave higher than dogs even.

Reviving an old thread here to ask if anyone knows what has become of Laurel Mountain dulcimers. Is Mary still making dulcimers?

Your music area

General mountain dulcimer or music discussions

I hope every one who is displaying their instruments is also keeping track of indoor humidity. I read on another thread of someone's Rockwell "developing" cracks. That is what happens when wood gets too dry. Also the fretboard shrinks and the fret wires start to stick out. To make sure my dulcimers have the proper condition year round but can also be easily accessed for playing, I had a custom made display cabinet created by Case Sensitive. They make beautiful guitar cabinets for guitars, but this is the first one made for dulcimers.
