Hi All,

I hope you are well and I wish you a good week.

For about the past year, I've been playing almost exclusively on four equidistant strings.  I have two identical McSpaddens and the other still has three strings.

I mostly made the switch because of a set of songs I composed for a vocalist friend where the larger harmonic possibilities seemed necessary.  This composition has occupied most of my playing time (album of these songs dropping any day), but I've also explored alternate tunings, a particular passion of mine (on three strings as well).  I don't feel that I've abandoned three strings, I just haven't had the time for both configurations.

I have two questions, please:

1) Do any of you alternate between three and four strings on a regular basis?

2) What do you see as the advantages of three strings?  I thing there are some, but I'd prefer to hear from others without influencing their opinions.

Thanks!  I hope to hear from you soon.
