So, this recording was a “happy accident”. I had promised to post a song for Christmas but was running out of time. I woke up with a pounding headache, had some Christmas shopping to do and was meeting the kids for an early dinner. I took out my phone and felt it recorded ok. I am planning on posting another Christmas song soon and will try to tweak my recording technique.
Yes, this was done on an instrument I built. I am planning on buying a professional built instrument sometime this next year. My current dulcimer has seen a lot of time in front of live audiences and amplifying it has always been an issue so I am also going to get a Myers pickup. Thank you for the kind words. I will post the other Christmas song soon.
Nicely done, Jim.
I'd love to hear your voice accompanied by a baritone dulcimer or something in a lower tonal range. I think the mix would be great.
Thank you Dusty. And thanks for the suggestion. I certainly have enjoyed your playing over the years.

Is this the dulcimer you built yourself? I love the sound of it and the way you use it to accompany your singing.
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Just lovely- well done Jim! ☺️
Very pretty, Jim. Hope you have a lovely holiday season!
