McSpadden Four & Twenty Songs - Hold On

Has anyone looked at "Hold On", as written in McSpadden's Four & Twenty Songs? The first several measures look to be good, but the remaining part, with the "Keep your hand on the plow, Hold on", seem rythmically awkward. I am wondering if there might be different arrangements, and McSpadden's is a variant I am not familiar with. And as such, I am trying to read what isn't there.
