Teachers who specialize in traditional/drone/noter style teaching
Here's a little thread to list some mtn dulcimer teachers who are skilled in traditional styles of playing using noter/drone/fingerdancing techniques who are willing to teach classes and workshops at festivals, gatherings, and camps. Seems to be a need for a specific list like this somewhere , now that a few festivals are beginning to consider offering more substantial class offerings for people interested in learning traditional style playing. It's a specialized enough subject that I decided it would more aptly go in this OLD STYLE playing GROUP rather than the general Teachers Group on FOTMD.
Please, let's keep this list to folks who really specialize in playing traditional style and are experienced in playing or teaching it. Frankly speaking, there are folks out there teaching noter & traditional drone style workshops who really don't know much about it and can't much play it, and a thread such as this might help improve that situation.
Please let's not use this as a place to criticize or gripe about festivals or people. This is one discussion that I feel should be kept relevant and on target, so in order to keep this thread effective to its purpose I may simply delete posts that ramble off topic, have a bad attitude, or don't really belong in this category.
This might be a good place to describe what you do, where you are, where you are willing to go to teach, and talk about your experience in playing or teaching traditional style dulcimer, or describe what you specialize in. You may add some contact info. Please don't post other people's contact info , other than just their FOTMD page.
Let's also remember that FOTMD has a general Group for Teachers of Mtn Dulcimer too- for teachers of all styles. And , there is already an excellent and expansive list of all types of dulcimer teachers on Everything Dulcimer, located HERE .
This thread is intended for traditional drone style player/teachers only, and is not meant to compete with or duplicate any other dulcimer teacher lists.
Thanks!
