Playing DAd tab songs while tuned to DAA

I have done a few word searches on the site and have not found information on this subject.

I admit that I do not understand any music theory behind playing DAd tab while tuned to DAA.

However, there are several old Hymns and Christmas music that is more pleasing to my ears when I play the song tab in DAd while my dulcimer is tuned to DAA.

I would appreciate any thoughts or comments on this subject.  I am still a novice and have been learning to play the dulcimer since February of this year.
