Martin MacKenzie 1965 Box Dulcimer

My father-in-law, Martin MacKenzie, Schenectady, NY, built wooden dulcimers. He experimented with finding sounds, placing a fretboard on various surfaces; pillows, walls, coffee tables,and then a box. The box gave the best sound. He built a dulcimer from cardboard, adding a wood binding. This is the only cardboard dulcimer he made. It still plays well, with a rich tone.
