6 1/2 fret a hindrance?

When playing noter drone style in Daa or Ddd, do you find a 6 1/2 fret a bit annoying?   Both my Mcspaddens have one....(I used to be a hard-core melody chord style player) and I really don't like that extra note you get.  Wish there was a pretty way of ditching it.
