Am I the only one?

Am I the only one who has the problem of hitting the frets with the noter when sliding from fret to fret? Sometimes it doesn't happen, and at other times I feel like I've added a percussion section to my dulcimer . Can something be done to correct this, or am I doomed? Thanks for any help!
