Has a fantastic sound, he tuned DADDD; from the bottom up, a bass D string, an A string, a D string an octave higher, and 2 more D strings paired in a course.The extra droning melody string gives it a full, bright, impressive sound. A gentleman named Bill Fleming made almost identical dulcimers in Gatlinburg at the same time, and from the photos I've seen they seem to be of even higher quality. He was an excellent craftsman and luthier. His daughter (Martha Fleming) is a member, if anyone has any photos or stories of her dad's instruments to share with her, or would like to ask her questions about her father and his instruments.
