White walnut with sapele stripe

I'm working on a new instrument. I've never worked with white walnut, and I love the smell! 

These are the steps as to how I carve the peghead. I'm getting a lot of tearout on one side, so I'm just going to go ahead and blame the wood and not my abilities or really sharp tools!
