Stroudsburg and Albany are over two hours away - for festivals it's OK, but for routine gatherings, it's a bit too far. I'll send a shout out to the NE group and see what happens. Thank you for your suggestions - and have a Happy New Year.
I don't live in New York State, but if I recall correctly from my youth in northern NJ you could also look in NJ, CT, and PA. There is a club near Albany and one that meets in Stroudsburg, PA, both of which may be too far away for you. As Dusty suggests, join the Northeastern US group and ask there. Much will depend upon how far you are willing to travel.

@Silver-Owl, asking your question here on the comment board in your own profile page won't get a lot of attention. Why not join the Northeastern US group and ask there? Even if there isn't a group already formed, you might meet a few local people and form a new group!
Does anyone know of any mountain dulcimer groups meeting in the southern portion of New York State? I practice on my own, watch instructional videos on YouTube and have been to a couple of dulcimer festivals - but, it would help to have some systematic instruction with this beautiful instrument.
Hi Silver Owl, and welcome to the wonderful world of the Friends of the Mountain Dulcimer. It's a good place to come, spend some time, learn about the dulcimer, and to meet some good people.
