Hi Cathy, and welcome to the wonderful world of the Friends of the Mountain DulcimerĀ It's a good place to come, spend some time, learn about the dulcimer, and to meet some good people.
It's great to have you join. Welcome Cathy Carlo to Friends of the Mountain Dulcimer. This is a great place to learn all about the dulcimer and meet lots of great dulcimer people. If you create a discussion about caring for a dulcimer you will get a lot of good responses. Please ask questions as you have them. We are here to support each other.
Welcome to FOTMD, Cathy. It's good to have you aboard. A general rule for all stringed instruments is that if you are comfortable, your dulcimer will be comfortable also. Many wooden instrument manufacturers suggest that they are best kept in an environment of 45 - 55% humidity. You will get all sorts of advice, if you ask your question about caring for your dulcimer. Dulcimers are fairly sturdy instruments. I keep two of mine out all the time. All the others I keep in cases until I want to play them. I don't live in a low humidity environment like Colorado. I look forward to your participation here.
