Clive, I'm not familiar with the mountain dulcimer makers across the pond. Perhaps John or Paul Crocker will see this and be able to provide information. Or one of the other members from the UK might be able to help you.

Many thanks for the warm welcome into the world of mountain dulcimer.

I currently play bass, guitar and ukulele and collect other stringed instruments from around the world.

However I saw Bob Fox a few weeks ago and he played a mountain dulcimer and I realised that I need one in my life.

So I set out to buy the cheapest on ebay. I ended up with a lovely 3 stringed mountain dulcimer which to my untrained ear sounds lovely, mellow and sort of focussed.

I noticed inside a small label on which was written in pencil,  Bob Christian, North Devon 1974, and a few numbers.

I wonder if anyone on the forum can tell me any info about the dulcimer I have bought. I have seen a few references to Bob Christian on the forum.

Anyway, I love the instrument, it needed a bit of "fettling" but it plays well and holds tune, even with the friction tuners.

Thanks again.

Clive
