Hi  Hobbit, and welcome to the wonderful world of the Friends of the Mountain Dulcimer.  It's a good place to come, spend some time, learn about the dulcimer, and to meet some good people.

Ben

Welcome Dahobbit to Friends of the Mountain Dulcimer. Glad you joined. This is a wonderful community of great folks who love the mountain dulcimer. There is lots of experience and knowledge represented here. Look around. And be sure to ask questions as you have them.

I am currently reading Robert Force’s book “In Search of the Wild Dulcimer” and am finding the mountain dulcimer not only a nice sounding instrument but one that has a very interesting history.  I was thoroughly confused at first but am getting more acquainted to things the more I play it and the more I read “In Search of…”. Thank you so much.

Dahobbit, welcome to FOTMD. The mountain dulcimer can be a little confusing coming from chromatic instruments. Let us know if we can help you as you begin your dulcimer journey.
