Ländler and Boarischer

Dulcimer Resources:TABS/Books/websites/DVDs

The notation looks fine to me. I do have a question about the trio section. There are several instances of 4 6+ 4. The 6+ on the middle string corresponds to a G#, which is quite dissonant against the A (4) on the melody and bass strings. Is that intended? Also you mentioned that the Raffele has not 6+ fret.

I like the way it changes key between G and D, and it looks like it is a fun tune to play. There is a contemporary tune called "Raffele Schottische" that also changes key every section and has a similar structure. I did a video of this about a year ago:

Play Music On the Porch Day 2018!

General mountain dulcimer or music discussions

I recorded six videos. I posted the first 3, and I'll post the last 3 tomorrow.

Recording multiple tracks?

General mountain dulcimer or music discussions

Skip:

I think if you use a headset to listen to the recorded track as you play/record the following one(s) you should have a better shot of staying in time with the recorded session.

I was going to suggest that, but I thought it was too obvious. After all, you want to keep the tracks isolated so that you can independently control the position and volume of each track.

Recording multiple tracks?

@JenniferC Very nice tune. I really enjoyed it.

I also use Audacity and have layed down as many as 6 tracks. It takes quite a bit of practice before you get the parts synchronized. Once I have a part recorded, I practice the next part against the recording until I feel I have it good enough to attempt a recording. I repeat the process until I have all the parts recorded.

One trick I used to use when I was starting out was to generate a click track (Generate -> Rhythm Track on the latest Audacity) and record the parts against that. I no longer do that because it made my playing sound a little too mechanical.

Everything Dulcimer - Closing Down.

Adrian E:

I prefer the Facebook ED to the original ED. At least Ron's Facebook one remains.

I appreciate you saying that, Adrian, but I think the original ED was better in a lot of ways. Facebook really doesn't have a good concept of permanence. By that I mean that you can't find something in the same place every time. Have you ever tried to find a Facebook post and had difficultly locating it again weeks or months after the original post? Also, you can't keep content like tabs, articles, etc. on there easily, and it doesn't seem to be searchable like the discussion forum was.

Everything Dulcimer - Closing Down.

I don't think Bruce is interested in having anyone take over Everything Dulcimer, or I would have heard something by now.
