That Docherty is one beautiful instrument, not that the Bond isn't. I'd love to pick out "Father Halpin's" or "Nonesuch" on either of them!
Just had a message asking who built these dulcimers. The one on the left was by London maker Frank Bond, one of three of his Roger owned over the years. The ornate one was from Australian maker Bill Docherty, and was a gift from him to Roger. He also made one for Jean Ritchie. I think hers is the one with "JR" on the head shown on the front cover of her "Dulcimer People" book.
