I have a question on tuning and string choice. Is it reasonable to switch between DAA and DAD tuning using Ionian strings, or is it better to use Mixolydian strings? Do the thicker Mixolydian strings give a greater range of tunings than the Ionian strings?
Hi Greg, and welcome to the wonderful world of the Friends of the Mountain Dulcimer. It's a good place to come, spend some time, learn about the dulcimer, and to meet some good people.
Welcome Greggep to Friends of the Mountain Dulcimer. Glad you joined. Join in the discussions and ask questions. We are here to help each other. Congrats on your new McSpadden. That is fine good quality dulcimer. Play it and enjoy it.
